Duties & Obligations
The Environmental Commission (EC) was created for the protection, development or use of the natural resources located within the territorial limits of Jefferson Township. The Commission advises the mayor and council, planning board, and board of adjustment concerning proposed development. Research, site plan reviews, and site plan visits are conducted in order to tender advice to the aforementioned parties.
Recommendations are made by the EC concerning:
- Air Pollution
- Flora and Fauna Protection
- Marine Resources
- Noise Control
- Open Space
- Soil and Landscape Appearance
- Water Resources Management
In addition, the EC works with other agencies, groups, parties, and individuals to study conditions to educate and to disseminate information relating to Jefferson Township and its environmental well being.
