Mayor's Wellness Campaign

The Township of Jefferson is proud to be apart of the statewide community health initiative, Mayors Wellness Campaign (MWC) lead by The New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute. 

This initiative is intended to provide "evidence based tools and strategies for mayors and community leaders to help their residents achieve healthier lifestyles and to improve the overall health and wellness in their communities."

2020 Healthy town to watch award

The Township of Jefferson was awarded the 2020 Healthy Town to Watch Award by the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute for the Mayor's Wellness Campaign's commitment to improving the health and wellness of our community.

Our Events

In order to promote our resident’s involvement in health and wellness and give them access to amazing resources there are events organized throughout the year, they include:

  • Free Community Yoga classes every Monday and Saturday at Black Bear Fitness in Lake Hopatcong.
  • Yogathon every Summer and Fall
  • Walk with the Mayor along the James Leach Boardwalk trail to Liffy Island.
  • Hike for Hope at Camp Jefferson to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
  • Wellness Resource Fair
    • Health and wellness resources from various agencies including blood pressure testing, hearing screenings, mental health and addiction services.
